The opportunity here is for an internist or internal medicine sub - specialty. The job description is for the physician to diagnose and treat diseases and injuries of the different organ systems. It involves examining patients for symptoms of infectious, organic or congenital disorders. Determining the nature and extent of injury or disorder, ordering the appropriate tests and or diagnostic images and coming up with an appropriate management plan for the patient. Based on the outcome of a focused diagnostic investigation the physician will begin treatment prescribing medication as indicated or referring the patient to the appropriate specialist when needed.
Internist opportunities: Internal medicine jobs are in great demand because all over the country. A physician trained in internal medicine is known as an internist and the job description involves diagnosing and providing non surgical treatment to a wide variety of clinical conditions that affect the human body. There area of expertise is generally the whole body’s organ systems and they use a variety of diagnostics techniques to treat patients through medication or hospitalization.
The jobs of the general practitioner or the family medicine physician are similar to that of a general internist, and they are sometimes known as primary care specialists. They diagnose and treat patients referred to them by other physicians and they in turn refer patients to other specialists when more complex care is required.
Internal medicine opportunities could become more specialize in which case the physician narrows his expertise to one organ system. In this case we are talking of specialties like infectious diseases, Nephrology, Endocrinology and other sub specialties of internal medicine.
